Many friends maintain that they often go to public places or use marble for decoration, and they will find many phenomena such as loss of light, dimness, partial scratches, holes, cracks and so on.
1. How do the above phenomena cause?
1. Due to the progress of stone grinding and polishing processing technology, the surface of commercially available natural marble is very dense, and the gloss after polishing can reach the effect of mirror surface. Therefore, consumers usually think that marble, like bright metal or glass, has the characteristics of being hard and airtight.
But in fact, natural marble is a kind of microporous material, and its surface is easily damaged by inhalation of external pollution. In other words, natural marble, like natural wood, is a breathable material, and its microscopic structure is porous. Characteristic (sometimes not easy to observe from the appearance), so it is easy to absorb the pollution invaded by the dissolution of water or oil.
2. In addition, although the polished marble is hard, the surface of the marble floor in public places or homes will inevitably be worn out after a period of time because the hardness of the sand particles brought in from the outside is higher than the surface of the marble. At the same time, due to the lack of scientific understanding and protection of marble, the ground was not protected when dragging hard objects on the ground, resulting in partial scratches on the ground.
3. The correct concept of stone maintenance has not been established. Dr. Shi suggested that in the maintenance and maintenance of floor marble, a mop with water should be used to mop the floor frequently. Part of the sewage will penetrate into the stone with the micropores of the marble, that is, the surface of the marble will become dirty. Seriously, the water vapor will cause gradual hydrolysis damage to the marble as it evaporates.
In addition, some of the marble's damage caused by sunlight, floor heating, and dry and wet cycles will cause the stone to decompose, burst, peel, and weather due to uneven forces.
4. The selection of maintenance materials and techniques is imperfect. When some stone care companies (or the owners themselves) maintain marble floors, the basis for choosing products is not based on the type, hardness, density, water absorption and current status of the stone to choose chemical materials. Instead, the floor is maintained in accordance with the so-called well-known international brands, imported materials, or even more expensive and inferior chemical maintenance materials. This causes some chemical materials with strong acid as the main component to form a deeper burn on the marble floor. Erosion and destruction, along with the combination of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, makes the surface of the stone more loose, and the phenomenon of weathering and decomposition is intensified. This is why the so-called professional maintenance on some occasions can still be a result of unrecognizable!
5. In summary, the most important factor is people's subjective consciousness and objective use, which leads to increasingly unsightly marble surfaces.
2. How to maintain the marble floor in use so that it can be used frequently?
1. From the perspective of users:
Since marble is a microporous material, it is easy to absorb dirt and water, so in our daily life, we must first establish a clean and wiping method with less or no water (such as using electrostatic dust to push oil or moist cloth), and try to avoid each Oil-like spills and infiltration (if possible, marble oil-proof treatment can be done in advance); when there are hard objects or sharp objects, please use a cart or put a soft cotton cloth, paper shell, etc. under the object. To avoid the walking friction of the marble by the wind and sand from the outside, use a dust pusher or a vacuum cleaner to clean the walking area frequently, thereby effectively avoiding minor scratches.
2. Consider from a professional point of view:
In order to enhance the hardness, density, abrasion resistance, and antifouling of the surface stone: use chemical materials to enhance the hardness of the stone surface (such as wax coating, reconstituted crystal surface, resin coating, paste curing, liquid curing agent).
3. Consider from the perspective of economic application:
A. Waxing maintenance: It belongs to the process 15 years ago, and it is basically eliminated now, because the wax water is easy to be hydrolyzed, easy to be polluted, and will cover the gloss of the marble itself, and the wax itself is softer. The high cost of waxing, cleaning, and rewaxing makes this kind of maintenance method almost out of the stage of professional stone maintenance.
B. Reconstructing the crystal surface: This is the most commonly used marble maintenance method in China in the past 10 years. Its basic principle is to put some chemical materials under a mirror maintenance machine weighing more than 65 kg, and use the machine to rotate to drive the polishing. The heat generated by the mat (or silk wool) rubbing on the ground produces a chemical combination and micro-rheological reaction with the surface structure and tissue of the marble, and through the double action of grinding and filling, it re-forms a harder and brighter blend on the surface of the marble. Crystalline layer, this crystal layer can improve the strength and wear resistance of the marble, and at the same time, it can peel off part of the aging layer for reconstruction. This is why the stone crystal surface reconstruction can continue to be used and is still favored by users at home and abroad; and In the process of rebuilding the crystal surface, there is no need to close the site, just do it as you go, and the economic performance of materials, cost, and labor is the most economical type among various maintenance methods. The material states of crystal surface reconstruction include: solid, powder, water, slurry, paste (described later), etc., but they all belong to the category of crystallization.
C. Paste curing: Based on the above-mentioned crystal surface technology, some domestic and foreign manufacturers have designed nano-molecules + water-soluble resin and silicon molecules to combine the crystalline material of the paste. We can continue to call it paste curing (some people call it glaze, some people It is called coating). The principle is to rub this paste material on the surface of the marble or polishing pad. Through the weight of the low-speed polishing machine and the heat generated by the grinding, the nano-molecules, silicon molecules and resin components are gradually rubbed onto the stone molecules. The inside of the hole and solidify to the surface layer to form a harder solidified layer to improve the surface brightness, abrasion resistance, and antifouling of the marble; The reason is that this method is more economical and cost-effective than the principle of crystal surface reconstruction, and the process has higher filling performance and lower grinding performance, so it cannot be applied to some stones with more severe weathering and poor surface smoothness.
D. Liquid curing agent: This kind of maintenance method is suitable for infiltrating into the stone during the marble renovation and repairing process, and has the function of strengthening the loose marble. Therefore, the crystal surface maintenance alone cannot be used independently. It must be ground-curing agent penetration plus Hard-grinding-fine grinding-polishing-crystal surface reconstruction can be completed, we will discuss in the renovation process (not a daily crystal surface reconstruction process).
Before recrystallization, the marble needs to be professionally cleaned in order to ensure the construction effect. Practitioners must establish a scientific and rigorous working attitude. Cleaning tools and materials:
Tools: floor scrubber, nylon brush tray, water suction machine, mop, bucket.
Material used: weak alkali or neutral detergent.
Operation method:
Pour the diluted stone cleaning liquid into the scrubber, move forward from back to front, and walk in a straight line to avoid omissions.
The water suction machine is activated at the same time of scrubbing, and the sewage is absorbed while scrubbing. For areas that cannot be washed by the scrubber, you can use a mop foam cleaner to wring out and scrub.
After cleaning with detergent and soaking up the ground sewage, wash it again with clean water in the same way to dry up the water.
Note: It is forbidden to use acidic cleaners and powdered cleaners to clean the floor, otherwise it will damage and corrode the marble surface.
Standard: clean and translucent, no stains, no marks.
In summary, marble crystal surface reconstruction (commonly known as stone crystallization) is currently the most common and most scientific stone maintenance method. The planned crystal surface reconstruction and maintenance system can be used regularly or according to the current situation or the type of stone. It is always new to avoid more serious weathering, decomposition, pores, bursting and other defects of the stone.
