Cement Tiles vs Terrazzo Tiles: Which are better tiles for flooring?
Feb 18, 2022
Both cement tiles and terrazzo tiles are excellent floors that can be used indoors or outdoor. Each has different advantages due to different production methods and different materials. So let's take a look at some of the differences between these two types of tiles to help you choose the right one for your flooring needs.

Durability
Both terrazzo and cement floor tiles are durable and retain their original color and aesthetics even after years of use. However, due to the extremely hard components of granite, marble, quartz, and glass in terrazzo tiles, these terrazzo tiles provide an exceptionally hard and durable surface. For very heavy shipping areas where terrazzo tile is frequently used, it may be your best choice due to its unmatched hardness and durability.
Color and Design
Cement tiles are available in a variety of colors, shapes and designs. Each tile is individually handcrafted using carefully constructed moulds to create sometimes intricate patterns. Terrazzo tiles, on the other hand, also come in a variety of colors, but feature a mottled design overall with speckles of contrasting colors. If you are looking for decorative floor tiles with a variety of design options, cement tiles may be a better choice for you.
Installation
Cement tiles are easier to install because they are not as hard as terrazzo tiles and are therefore easier to cut to size. However, care must be taken when laying cement tiles with designs to ensure the designs are properly aligned. Because terrazzo tiles have an overall mottled effect, they can be laid in any direction. In addition, cement bricks had to be laid, leaving a small space between them, and then filled with grout, which added an extra step to the installation process. Terrazzo tiles, on the other hand, are usually laid flush with each other and do not require grout.
Finished effect
Since there is grout between the cement tiles, you can create different effects depending on the grout color you use. The huge selection of cement tile designs and colors allows you to create a variety of spaces from modern to traditional, from high visual impact to eye soothing. Terrazzo tiles have a more uniform color and effect, which may make them more versatile and easier to combine with fixtures and furniture.
