Italy Travertine Bathroom Sink
Travertine is a form of terrestrial limestone deposited by mineral springs, particularly hot springs. While travertine is found in many parts of the world, the stone quarried in Italy—specifically in the regions of Tuscany, Lazio, and Umbria—is considered the gold standard. The most famous quarries are located near Tivoli and Guidonia, historically supplying the stone used to build some of Rome’s most iconic structures, including the Colosseum and St. Peter’s Square. Italian travertine is distinct for its warm, earthy color palette—ranging from creamy ivory and honey-beige to rich walnut and gold—and its naturally occurring pitted holes and veining.

4.Care and Maintenance
Italian travertine is a calcium-based stone, making it softer and more porous than granite. To preserve its beauty for decades, proper care is essential:
Sealing is Mandatory: The sink must be sealed with a high-quality penetrating sealer upon installation and resealed every 1–2 years to prevent water absorption and stains.
Gentle Cleaning: Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner or mild dish soap with a soft cloth. Avoid vinegar, bleach, ammonia, or any acidic cleaners, as these will etch (dull) the surface.
Drying: After each use, wipe the sink dry to prevent hard water spots and mineral buildup.
Handling Stains: Blot spills immediately. For oil-based stains, use a poultice; for rust or organic stains, a specialized stone cleaner is required.
